| Even those tough years back then provided me with moments I dearly remember: it was in Vienna. We would go to the cinema on Saturday afternoons to watch westerns. Unconsciously we would copy Gary Cooper, John Wayne & co, who represented law and order for us kids. It started as soon as we stepped outside the cinema, walking home bow-legged and with our shoulders drooping in a similarly cool fashion. | ERNIE OLDFIELD HAS PASSED AWAY I opened up this morning to work my daily routine catching up ob airplay reports but suddemly things were no longer a routine. I was compleetly struck by surprise and filled with disbelief and sadness to learn that Ernie passed away. Through the years I feel that I have learned to know him as a friend through his music and his presence on the board. A very fine artist and person has left the building and he will be missed dearly eben though his music will live on forever. My thoughts goes to those he left behind, family and friends in this time of sadness. BON VOYAGE ERNIE and thank you ! |

On Sunday, 22nd of June, 2008, the hearts of ERNIE OLDFIELD's fans united with mine during my guest visit to Musik Melodies show
at FM 98.5 CKWR in Waterloo, Ontario. The 20 minute remembrance began with a special song dedication "I CRIED FOR YOU" by Katie Melua. Yes, ERNIE, I cried for you. My recollections of unforgettable ERNIE OLDFIELD were enshrined by "HOLD ME TIGHT". Before my visit to Harry Rauser's show reached a finale with Jim Reeves "God Be With You Till We Meet Again" - I felt the overwhelming inspiration to leave the show with a few last words ... "Just in case my eyes don't see tomorrow, just in case I never get the chance to hug you once again, my dearest friend, there's something I must tell you now. The last thought on my mind will be of you ... and the last word from my lips will be your name." With all my love from Canada, Evy.

Oh Lord, my tears are pouring again. As I started to type this message, "HOLD ME TIGHT" began to play on this Book Of Condolence. How can I ever forget the day when I first heard this song, and was so impressed that I actually phoned WIR Records in Vienna while ERNIE was singing his heart out in this song on my CD player, and I asked the person who answered the phone to "just listen to him sing this song!" ... "he's incredible!" ... and I thanked WIR Records for sending me a copy of ERNIE'S "I GOT WHAT I AM" album. Little did I realize at the time that I was actually speaking to PETER JORDAN - the songwriter. After I hung up the phone, I felt like a star-struck teenager and thought to myself how silly I must have sounded to them because of course they heard ERNIE "sing this song"! There is only one condolence in my heart right now. I am so glad that I let ERNIE know how much I love his music and videos while I had the chance. I did not know Ernie, but as a fellow member of the "indie" music network, I know his loss will be felt by his family and those who did know him as a person, and as an artist.
May God bless his memory and give comfort to those in mourning for him now.

Oh Lord, my tears are pouring again. As I started to type this message, "HOLD ME TIGHT" began to play on this Book Of Condolence. How can I ever forget the day when I first heard this song, and was so impressed that I actually phoned WIR Records in Vienna while ERNIE was singing his heart out in this song on my CD player, and I asked the person who answered the phone to "just listen to him sing this song!" ... "he's incredible!" ... and I thanked WIR Records for sending me a copy of ERNIE'S "I GOT WHAT I AM" album. Little did I realize at the time that I was actually speaking to PETER JORDAN - the songwriter. After I hung up the phone, I felt like a star-struck teenager and thought to myself how silly I must have sounded to them because of course they heard ERNIE "sing this song"! There is only one condolence in my heart right now. I am so glad that I let ERNIE know how much I love his music and videos while I had the chance. My deepest sympathy to his friends and fans, and to WIR Records and JOY MusicVideoProductions who are like family to ERNIE OLDFIELD. He is part of my heart for as long as I have one.
